Executive Director

Merunda Brown is the Executive Director for the City of Tallulah Section 8 Program.  In her current position, Ms. Brown is responsible for the managerial and financial solvency of the program.  Managing up to 60 clients, Ms. Brown ensures the statutory, regulatory and contractual obligations of the program, as well as ensuring program clients are kept abreast of housing assistance rules and regulations.

Ms.  Brown's housing experience includes tenures as Apartment Manager for both Countryside Apartments (32 units) and Tallulah Square Apartments (28 units) in Tallulah, Louisiana.  In both positions, she was responsible for the tenant application process, enforcement of property rules, ensuring facilities were compliant with local, state and federal regulations, proper accounting of rental fees and all clerical and administrative tasks.

Ms. Brown worked for eight years as a gaming teller at the Winner's Circle Off Track Betting, where her main responsibility was accurate wager accounting.  She is a certified para-professional, with experience having worked in the Madison Parish School District and at the Madison Parish Correctional Center for Troubled Youth (TCCY) in the center's educational rehabilitation program.

Ms. Brown is a member of the Louisiana Housing Council and a dedicated member of Pleasant Grove #1 Baptist Church.  She is the mother of three sons and has two grandchildren.
