City of Tallulah Section 8

The City of Tallulah Section 8 (Cot-S8)'s mission is to respond to the community's need for affordable, safe, and sanitary housing as we nurture individual self-sufficiency to promote upward mobility, improve the quality of their lives and the community.

Our mission is also to anticipate and respond without discrimination of race, sex or family status.

City of Tallulah Section 8 is part of the housing choice voucher program.  This program the federal government's major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. Since housing assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are able to find their own housing, including single-family homes, townhouses and apartments.

The participant is free to choose any housing that meets the requirements of the program and is not limited to units located in subsidized housing projects.

Vouchers are administered locally by City of Tallulah Section 8. A family that is issued a housing voucher is responsible for finding a suitable housing unit of the family's choice where the owner agrees to rent under the program.

TALLULAH WEATHER

The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) proudly joins the nation in recognizing April as Fair Housing Month. This annual commemoration serves as a reminder of the Fair Housing Act of 1968,  which prohibits discrimination in housing and affirms the commitment to ensuring equal access to safe and affordable housing for all individuals.

Fair Housing Month is an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in the pursuit of housing equality while acknowledging the ongoing challenges that many individuals and families face. LHC remains steadfast in its mission to promote fair and inclusive housing policies, provide financial assistance programs, and collaborate with local, state, and federal partners to advance equitable housing opportunities.

"Our state agency works to promote and educate the public about the importance of fair housing and what actions they can take if they are violated," said LHC Executive Director Kevin Delahoussaye. "In LHC's Certified Homebuyer Education Courses, we discuss homebuyer rights and what the Fair Housing Act protects.

Throughout April, LHC will post educational facts and data on social media platforms to raise awareness about fair housing rights. LHC encourages all Louisianians to learn more about their fair housing rights and to take part in local resources and organizations that can help them if their rights are violated.
